About Lucent Globe

Identical twin brothers, Roger and Brodie Cook, first got the idea for Lucent Globe when they were travellng to some of the most remote, pristine locations across the world, but were struck by how often they saw plastic pollution. Seeing this pervasive problem firsthand, they were inspired to do something to facilitate a cleaner future. 

Thinking about the items that contribute to plastic waste, they decided to focus on those found most in day-to-day chores: cleaning products. The brothers ended up designing the world’s first dishwashing sheet (where you simply take one sheet and add it into the detergent dispenser in a dishwasher or add straight into your dish or dishwand if handwashing.). 

Today, Lucent Globe sells a wide range of effective and affordable cleaning products that are specifically designed to have minimal environmental impact.  

We sat down with Roger Cook, the COO & Co-Founder of Lucent Globe, to learn how the brand scaled so quickly and how ShipBob has helped them step into the US market.

Expanding into the US with the leading American 3PL

Since starting Lucent Globe just a few years ago, we’ve been able to grow very quickly, both with our domestic audience in Australia and in other markets as well. We’ve grown to tens of millions of dollars in annual revenue, largely from testing and learning as we went.  

It’s been great to get so much local support in Australia from ShipBob, while orders are fulfilled across the world. We actually started talking with Johnny from the ShipBob Sales team probably just a few months into our business, starting when we were just fulfilling out of our garage.  

What always stuck out was ShipBob’s genuine care in wanting to help us succeed, compared to other 3PLs. We chose ShipBob not just because of their very competitive rates, but also because of the relationship they cultivated. 

The ShipBob onboarding experience was really smooth, even from the other side of the world. Our inventory landed quickly, and the implementation was seamless. The ease of entering the US market was great, especially since we used ShipBob’s referred partners such as Avalara for tax advice and registration.

You hear horror stories of people launching with a 3PL where the barcodes are wrong, the inventory’s not being counted properly, and where they’re sending out the wrong products. But for us, there have been no real problems since we started with ShipBob.  

Getting predictable, affordable pricing for consistent rates 

ShipBob has very competitive rates, which makes it an absolute no-brainer to work with them. Plus, we’re very pleased on the cost-per-order side of things, as we always know the exact price that we’re going to get with ShipBob. 

Compared to doing our own fulfillment from our operation in Australia, where it can be hard to get our cost per order down to a science, as there are fluctuations due to changing boxes or mailers ,other suppliers, differing labor that can be difficult to forecast, and more, with ShipBob, it’s just an easy, predictable price.  

In the ShipBob dashboard, we can even compare the current fulfillment center locations we are using with alternative locations that ShipBob has in order to see the difference in shipping zones, transit times, and costs, so we can continue to optimize over time.  

We’re also on ShipBob’s Inventory Placement Program (IPP), which streamlines our stock distribution. IPP is a no-brainer because it greatly reduces our average shipping cost, and we only need to send a single shipment to one location and ShipBob distributes it for us, rather than us needing to book multiple shipments to different locations. 

Achieving massive time savings and seamless scalability through technology and operations that run like a well-oiled machine  

We have our own warehouse in Australia, where we constantly have 2-3 full-time employees working on logistics in addition to our packing team to get orders out on time. The amount of effort we spend internally on a daily basis making sure our warehouse is run efficiently, is following first-in-first-out (FIFO), has enough supplies on hand, etc. is high. 

To not have to worry about any of that in the US and have our Head of Ops simply monitor it from afar is just what we need. ShipBob is perfect for us since we’re growing fast and don’t have time to constantly check in on too many things. 

We see ourselves more as experts in marketing and product development; we’re not experts on fulfillment and logistics, so we want the pros to take care of that so we can take care of the stuff we’re actually good at. 

Overall, the amount of efficiencies you get with ShipBob is amazing and they save us so much time. Our experience so far having ShipBob handle fulfillment for us has been great. 

Seeing our orders flow through the ShipBob dashboard and get delivered with no issues has been fantastic. We can also look at real-time analytics on delivery data in the ShipBob dashboard and gain insights into how we can continue to improve.

Receiving top-notch support during viral moments and peak seasons 

A huge part of our growth comes from the content we create: interesting videos that cut through the noise, including hundreds of new ads each week, educating people on how our product works. Much of that content has gone viral, even 10X-ing our order volume overnight.  

After our ads started catching on in the US, we knew we’d better send stock locally there. We partnered with ShipBob for US fulfillment in March 2025, and it’s been a painless experience. 

ShipBob has already helped us scale literally overnight when we had a marketing campaign blow up. It could have been stressful to worry about how we’d be able to keep up, but ShipBob didn’t miss an order.

What’s next for Lucent Globe? 

We’ve recently launched in a bunch of retail stores in Australia and even a few in New Zealand. ShipBob lets us focus on keeping our Australian growth pumping, along with our retail expansion, but we definitely plan to scale more internationally.  

While we’re still in scale mode at the moment, we’ll continue testing more products as quickly as possible. We’ve had this rapid growth and a product line that fits the needs of people, but the main contributing factor to our success is the people that we’ve brought on board. They are a lot smarter than me and do a great job every day for us. A lot of our scale is owed to the great people we have here and partners like ShipBob.
