Privacy Policy

Privacy Policy

Effective date: October 1, 2026

This policy explains what personal information eCommerce Fastlane collects, why, who we share it with, and your choices. We have written it in plain language on purpose. If something is unclear, email us, and we will explain it.

Who we are

eCommerceFastlane.com, its translated versions, the eCommerce Fastlane podcast pages, and related forms are operated by Fastlane Media Inc., a company based in the Township of Langley, British Columbia, Canada (“Fastlane”, “we”, “us”).

The Fastlane Insider newsletter is delivered through Beehiiv. When you subscribe, Beehiiv’s privacy policy also applies to how your subscription data is stored and processed.

The person responsible for your privacy

Steve Hutt, Founder, is responsible for protecting personal information at Fastlane Media Inc. You can reach him with any privacy questions or requests at [email protected].

What we collect

Information you give us.

  • Contact and inquiry forms: your name, email address, company, and the message you send.
  • Newsletter sign-ups: your email address and any preferences you choose.
  • Partners, sponsors, and contributors: business name, billing contact, invoice details, and content or bios you submit. Payments are handled by PayPal, Stripe, or bank transfer. We never see or store your full card number.
  • Podcast guests: name, title, company, photo, bio, and the recording itself.

Information collected automatically. When you visit the site, our servers and the tools listed below record technical information such as your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you view, the page that referred you, approximate location derived from your IP address, and the time of your visit. Some of this is collected with cookies and similar technologies, described in our Cookie Policy.

Information from partners. Visitor identification providers may tell us an email address associated with a visit, as explained in the next section.

Visitor identification and the newsletter

Some pages on this site load tools from visitor identification providers, currently Opensend and Retention.com. When you visit, these providers use cookies, your IP address, and device signals to check whether your visit matches a person or business in data they already hold. If they report a match, they may send us an email address and basic profile details associated with you, such as name, company, or job title.

These tools are configured to work only for visitors located in the United States. The providers tell us they only match people who agreed elsewhere to receive messages from third parties. We rely on that representation and on our own opt-out process.

If we receive a matched email address, we send one welcome message explaining how we received your address and inviting you to the Fastlane Insider newsletter. Every email includes a one-click unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing removes you from future newsletters. You can also stop these tools from recognizing you in the future by declining marketing cookies in our cookie banner and by using each provider’s own opt-out: https://app.retention.com/optout

How we use your information

  • To answer your questions and run partnerships, sponsorships, and guest content.
  • To send the Fastlane Insider newsletter and related messages you have agreed to receive or, for US visitors identified as described above, to invite you to it.
  • To understand which content is useful, measure site performance, and fix problems.
  • To show sponsor placements and track clicks on affiliate and partner links, so partners can credit and pay us.
  • To protect the site from fraud, spam, abuse, and automated attacks.
  • To keep business and tax records and meet our legal obligations.

We do not use your information to make automated decisions that have a legal or similarly significant effect on you.

Who we share it with

We share personal information only with the service providers who help us run the site and business, and only as much as they need. The main ones are:

Provider What they do for us

GTranslate Machine translation of the site into other languages

We may also disclose information if the law requires it, to protect our rights or someone’s safety, or to a buyer or successor if the business is ever sold, in which case this policy would continue to apply to your information.

We do not sell personal information for money. Some US state laws treat sharing data with advertising or identification partners as a “sale” or “sharing” even when no money changes hands. The visitor identification tools described above may fall within that definition, and you can opt out as explained under “Your rights”.

Where your information is stored

Fastlane is a Canadian company, but most of our service providers store data in the United States and other countries. Information stored outside Canada is subject to the laws of those countries and may be accessed by their courts, governments, and law enforcement. We choose established providers and rely on their contractual and security commitments to protect it.

How long we keep it

  • Newsletter subscriptions: until you unsubscribe, then only a suppression record so we don’t email you again.
  • Inquiries and partner correspondence: as long as the relationship is active and for up to seven years after, to meet tax and accounting rules.
  • Analytics data: according to each tool’s retention setting, generally 14 months or less for Google Analytics.
  • Server and security logs: generally a few weeks, as set by our hosting and security providers.

Your rights

Everyone. You can ask what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, withdraw consent to marketing at any time, and ask us to delete information we no longer need. Email us and we will respond within 30 days. We may need to confirm your identity first.

Canada. If you’re not satisfied with our answer, you can complain to the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia or the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

European Union and United Kingdom. We rely on your consent for analytics and marketing cookies, on our legitimate interests to run and secure the site and answer business inquiries, and on contract for partner work. You have the rights of access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, and portability, and you can complain to your local data protection authority.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards, including encrypted connections, access controls, and reputable providers. No system is perfectly secure. If a breach creates a real risk of significant harm to you, we will notify you and the relevant regulators as the law requires.

Children

This site is written for business owners and professionals. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has sent us information, contact us, and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We will update this page when our practices change and change the effective date above. If a change materially affects how we use information we already hold, we will tell newsletter subscribers by email.
