About Particle
Everyone wants to feel good about themselves as they age – and business partners Ayal Ebert and Guy Falkovich were no exception.
When the two noticed the first signs of fine lines, they decided to try anti-aging products. But in every drugstore’s beauty aisle they explored, everything seemed to be designed for and targeted towards women.
Instead of giving up, the duo saw a gap in the market, and set out to create a line of anti-aging skincare products specifically for men – and Particle was born. Fast forward to today, and Particle is a wildly successful, multi-million-dollar brand that offers expertly crafted, research-driven products made from high-quality, powerful ingredients to combat the signs of aging at the molecular level.
We sat down with Nadav Haras, VP of Supply Chain at Particle, to discuss how ShipBob Plus delivered the support, fulfillment network, technology, and capabilities they needed to support their growth at scale.
Outgrowing your fulfillment partner and finding a solution that scales

When Particle first started, we used a small fulfillment center based in New Jersey. They supported us well in the early days – but then our growth kicked into high gear. Our business doubled in size every year for three years straight, and we outgrew them. We needed a partner that could support our order volumes as we kept scaling, and that had fulfillment centers in multiple strategic locations.
I reached out to several big 3PLs in the fulfillment space, including ShipBob. The more I learned about them, the more I realized that ShipBob offered us everything the other players were and beyond.



Receiving personalized support from responsive team members that care
One of the major reasons we chose ShipBob Plus was the level of support and personalized attention they offer brands – both initially and on a continued basis.
As we were considering our options for fulfillment partners, I met with ShipBob’s Chief Pricing Officer, Eric Weisberg, and we had a great talk. I presented our data to him and explained the full scope of our operations, and he totally saw us and immediately understood what we needed.
He jumped in, had it covered, and even now he still accompanies our account as our Executive Sponsor. We know we can always reach out to him, yet there’s never a need to – it’s more the fact that we can that is a testament to how ShipBob supports mid-market merchants.

Leveraging ShipBob’s network to distribute inventory, save money, and reduce transit times
The Inventory Placement Program (IPP) was a very big factor in us choosing ShipBob.
All of our manufacturing facilities are based in New Jersey and New York, and we do a lot of importing from the Middle East as well, so we needed to find an efficient and affordable way to ship goods all over the US.
Through IPP, we’ve distributed our inventory across four fulfillment centers on both US coasts and in the South and Southeast regions of the country. This means that our fulfillment locations are a lot closer to major ports and our manufacturers, which cuts down our dock-to-stock time and middle-mile costs.
Better yet, leveraging IPP, I don’t have to worry about arranging – or paying for! – inventory transportation to all four warehouses. All we have to do is send our inventory to ShipBob’s Northeast hub (which is only a four hours’ drive from our manufacturer) and then dictate what amount of inventory goes where through the ShipBob dashboard. From there, ShipBob takes care of the rest. They have their own trucks and distribute our inventory to each fulfillment center on our behalf.

We’re currently in 4 of ShipBob’s fulfillment centers in Texas, California, Georgia, and New Jersey, which allows us to majorly shorten the shipping time and lower shipping costs for customers.
IPP has made our life easier and it’s very cost effective for us. Before, we spent a ton of time and money hiring trucking services to get our inventory from ports and our manufacturers to the fulfillment centers; now, I just input some numbers in the ShipBob’s system and that’s it. All our inventory goes straight to a hub and gets regionally distributed for us. I don’t have to schedule or pay for multiple trucks to go all over the country, and it’s so easy that one person can do it.”

Keeping your team lean using analytics and technology that work for you
For mid-market brands with big-scale operations like ours, it’s super important to have a fulfillment partner with top-of-the-line technology. When the numbers are big (and getting bigger), you simply cannot control, monitor, or record everything manually. You need a lot of tools to support you, and ShipBob offers those tools.
I’m very tech-savvy and a big numbers guy. Through ShipBob’s dashboard, I can access all the analytics we need across inventory, storage, orders, fulfillment, shipping – the works. I’m using them all, and they’re all great.
ShipBob even custom-built some PowerBI reports for us, which we’re using on a weekly basis. Honestly, these analytics help me keep my team really lean. I don’t need a lot of people to work with the system, because the system is working for me. That’s a huge upside.
Fast-tracking receiving during peak to achieve 99% SLA performance and 0 stockouts
Peak season was awesome for us! We’re growing every year and it takes a lot of effort from everyone to fulfill everything on time to arrive before Christmas and make our clients happy – and ShipBob really stood up to the challenge.
Our SLAs are constantly at 99%, and it was no different during peak. Even if that’s something other fulfillment partners could do, ShipBob still set itself apart because of how they enabled us to meet demand.
We went on a very fast production run during November and December this past year, and ShipBob expedited receiving for a lot of new inventory that supported our sales. It was a huge operation that required a ton of cooperation between manufacturing, trucking, shipping to all the facilities, and stowing – plus everything had to be expedited to have stock arrive in fulfillment centers by peak.
But ShipBob didn’t miss a beat. They worked with us tirelessly to make sure we had the right inventory where we needed it, when we needed it. In the end, we didn’t have a single stockout of any item during all of peak season.
“My opinion has always been that operations should never delay or cancel sales. If we made it all the way to sell something (which is already a long journey) but fumble at delivery, it’s money left on the table. At the same time, it’s not a matter of if issues arise, but when – especially during peak season. So for us, it’s non-negotiable to have a fulfillment partner that is both excellent operationally, but responsive and accountable when problems pop up.

Delivering an elegant, curated unboxing using ShipBob’s Customization Suite
For us, elevating the unboxing experience is worth the extra cost. We’re spending money on it because we want to give our clients the best experience – not just starting when you use the product, but from the moment the package is placed on their doorstep.

Unlocking lot management to achieve visibility and tracking into every batch and shipment
As a beauty brand, lots are really hard to manage. Getting product in is the easy part, but then it’s up to the warehouse to stow it according to the batch number or expiration date, have everything synced through fulfillment, and use FEFO to send out only the right batches or lots.
The ideal is that I know everything, and I can pinpoint exactly what products from which batch we sent for any order or shipment – and with ShipBob’s lot tracking capabilities, I can.
I thought it was going to be really hard to implement because we had never used lots before, but ShipBob’s lot management is really an out-of-the-box solution that’s super easy to start with and keep up. Now, we have visibility into all our lots and can track everything.
We’re using a lot of the analytics, and if I ever needed to track a shipment, I can look up and view the products, lot numbers, and expiration dates in every package we send. It’s so important to have that ability, and we didn’t have it before, so our team is super happy with it.


What’s next for Particle
We have a lot in store for the year ahead, starting with four new products that we’ll be launching.
We’re also going to expand our retail presence. We’re currently on Ulta Beauty Marketplace, but we’re planning to go beyond dropshipping and actually start stocking our products in-store. Even though we don’t know which retailers we’ll partner with yet, we’ve already started discussing it with ShipBob and we’re definitely going to use ShipBob to fulfill the retail distribution side of the business.
Folks will also be hearing about us – a lot. We’ve been on TV multiple times over the past two years, and we’ve got really nice brand recognition, so we want to build on that and grow it as much as we can. We’re already the #1 skin care brand for men in the US, and no matter how we scale next, we’ll continue to make our clients happy and beautiful!
