At Nosto, performance is everything. Whether it’s Personalized Search or browsing a category page, speed directly impacts conversions. That’s why we’ve just completed two major infrastructure upgrades designed to deliver faster, more reliable ecommerce experiences—especially for European shoppers.
Spoiler: We’re talking 3× improved latency and 70% cost savings that’ll go right back into improving our platform.
Here’s how we did it.
Earlier this year, we migrated our search infrastructure from Elastic Cloud to a self-hosted Elasticsearch environment on AWS, with zero downtime.
Why switch?
Elastic Cloud served us well in the early days. But as Personalized Search matured and grew rapidly, we needed more flexibility, better performance, and a cost structure that scaled with us.
Thanks to our Site Reliability Engineering team, we now run Elasticsearch ourselves, and the results speak for themselves:
This wasn’t just a tech upgrade—it’s a strategic investment in speed, stability, and merchant impact.
With our foundation in place, we took the next step: launching a new data center in the EU.
Now live, it powers Personalized Search and Category Merchandising for Europe-based merchants. The performance boost?
Because in ecommerce, every millisecond counts.
Speed is half the story. Reliability is the other.
We’re laying the groundwork for even better cross-region failover, giving better certainty that if one data center goes down, another picks up traffic seamlessly. It’s part of building a resilient, global infrastructure merchants can count on.
These infrastructure upgrades may be behind the scenes, but the benefits are front and center:
For Nosto customers, it’s another step forward in delivering intelligent, performant ecommerce, and we’re just getting started.
