A complete guide to what Yotpo Spotlight does, how it works, and how to get the most out of it for your brand.
In the past, loyalty surfaced primarily on a dedicated rewards page, or at checkout. The problem is that the rewards page is usually not an organic step in the shopping journey – it’s an out of the way destination shoppers need to be directed to, and by the time a shopper makes it to checkout, brands lose the ability to really influence behavior. Spotlight was built to change the status quo.
Yotpo’s Loyalty Spotlight dynamically surfaces loyalty throughout the shopping journey, at key moments. The result? 30% more logins. 40% more redemptions. 14.5% lift in conversions. 25% of purchases happening within minutes of a widget redemption.
This guide covers how this new tool works, what it displays , how to set it up, and how to get the most out of it.
Loyalty program performance tends to plateau for three specific reasons:
1. Low login rates.
When shoppers browse anonymously, brands can’t collect the first-party data that makes loyalty and personalization work. Email flows stay generic, shopper journeys stay disconnected, and the full ROI of the loyalty program stays out of reach.
2. Fragmented touchpoints.
Shoppers encounter loyalty signals across emails, rewards pages, PDPs, and checkout – but rarely in a way that feels connected or actionable. A shopper on your PDP has no way of knowing they’re 200 points away from a free shipping reward unless something tells them.
3. Friction in the redemption flow.
Applying a reward typically requires navigating to a separate page, locating the right reward, copying a code, returning to checkout, and pasting it in. Each of those steps is an opportunity for a shopper to abandon the cart. Spotlight removes all of them.
Spotlight is made up of two components that work together to create a seamless on-site loyalty experience.
The Trigger (CTA) is a compact and dynamic call-to-action that appears directly on your website. It’s a native Shopify app block, which means it can be placed anywhere in your theme – on the homepage, PDP, cart, or collection pages. When a shopper clicks it, the Drawer opens.
The Drawer is the expanded loyalty experience that slides open in response to the Trigger click. It shows each shopper their personal loyalty information in real time, without navigating them away from the page they’re already on. The interface uses a familiar drawer-style layout that feels like a natural part of the shopping experience rather than a separate destination.
Both components automatically adapt to display different content based on whether the shopper is logged in or not.
The Drawer experience is different depending on who’s looking at it.
For logged-in members: Shoppers see their name, real-time points balance, and the dollar value of those points. They also see their VIP tier and points multiplier, every reward currently available to them, including active birthday and anniversary rewards and any rewards tied to a minimum spend or specific item, and the next reward they’re closest to unlocking along with the exact number of points they still need.
The display order is optimized for conversion. Expiring rewards appear first, followed by direct rewards, then points-based rewards, then the next reward the shopper can work toward. The most actionable information is always at the top.
For logged-out shoppers: Shoppers see a personalized prompt to sign in or join the program. After logging in or signing up, they’re automatically redirected back to the page they were on, where the Drawer opens immediately with their personal loyalty information visible.
Most loyalty widgets present nothing to a logged-out shopper. Spotlight gives anonymous visitors a clear, personalized reason to log in at the exact moment they’re engaged with a product.

Spotlight is a native Shopify app block, which means placement is entirely in the brand’s hands. Different pages create different opportunities. We recommend keeping it present throughout the experience, but that’s up to you.
Homepage: Placing Spotlight on the homepage captures logins and sign-ups earlier in the funnel than any other touchpoint. A shopper who logs in on the homepage before browsing products gives the brand a much fuller picture of who they are and what they’re likely to do.
Product Detail Page (PDP): The PDP is where most purchase decisions actually happen. A shopper considering a product who sees their points balance and available rewards in that moment has a concrete, personalized reason to complete the purchase. This is the placement that most directly connects loyalty to conversion.
Cart: A redemption prompt in the cart gives shoppers a reason to apply rewards at the highest-intent moment of their visit. Shoppers who see their rewards at this stage are the most likely to use them, and the data shows that when they do, purchases happen quickly.
Collection Pages: Collection pages work well for surfacing tier progress, showing shoppers how close they are to their next reward while they’re still browsing and deciding what to add to their cart.
Spotlight can also be hidden from specific pages using a URL pattern. Hiding it from the rewards page, for example, avoids surfacing a redundant CTA in a place where shoppers are already engaging with their loyalty information directly.
Everything in Spotlight is configured directly in the Shopify theme editor. No developer resources are required at any stage of setup or customization.
CTA text by shopper state: The Trigger text can be set differently for logged-in and logged-out shoppers. A logged-out visitor might see “Sign in to see your VIP rewards.” A logged-in member might see “Hey [name], redeem your [points balance] points.” Both messages are fully editable in the theme editor.
Dynamic placeholders: Spotlight supports dynamic placeholders in key text fields including greeting text, reward days remaining, cart value requirements, and points requirements. These placeholders pull live data from each shopper’s loyalty profile automatically, so a message like “You’re 150 points away from your next reward” updates in real time without any manual input.
Page-level messaging: Because Spotlight is placed as an app block, each instance can carry its own CTA copy. A homepage placement might introduce the program to new visitors. A PDP placement might focus on redemption. A cart placement might highlight how close the shopper is to their next tier. Each message can be tailored to the context of the page it’s on.
Drawer appearance: The Drawer is customized through App Embeds in the Shopify theme editor. Brands can control the tiles and text displayed, the colors used throughout the drawer, and advanced labels for points, tiers, and rewards. Everything is scoped to what Shopify’s design system supports.
Reward names and descriptions: Reward values, names, and descriptions in the Drawer are pulled directly from your Yotpo Loyalty program settings and sync automatically when changed. For rewards tied to a specific product or collection, clear naming helps shoppers understand exactly what they need to do to redeem.

Spotlight creates login moments earlier in the shopper journey, which has a compounding effect on everything that comes after.
A shopper browsing a PDP sees a personalized Trigger. They click it, log in, and are immediately returned to the same page with their full loyalty information visible in the open Drawer. The experience feels seamless because it is. There’s no redirect to a login page and no loss of context.
Brands using Spotlight are seeing:
Every login that happens earlier in the journey gives the brand more data to work with. That data flows into email segmentation, SMS triggers, and onsite personalization, making every downstream interaction more relevant because it’s based on a real profile rather than an anonymous session. A shopper who logs in on the PDP is a shopper whose next email, next SMS, and next onsite experience can all reflect what the brand actually knows about them.
Redemption is the moment where loyalty is supposed to pay off for both the shopper and the brand. Most programs make it harder than it needs to be.
Applying a reward through a traditional flow means leaving the current page, finding the rewards page, locating the right reward, copying a code, returning to checkout, and pasting it in. Each of those steps reduces the chance the shopper actually completes the redemption.
Spotlight is the only loyalty widget that lets shoppers redeem rewards directly without ever leaving the purchase funnel. Shoppers apply a reward to their cart in one click from inside the Drawer. They can also swap to a different reward and apply it, all while staying on the page they were already on.
Brands using Spotlight are seeing:
This is a direct reflection of what happens when the path from reward to purchase has no unnecessary steps in it.
Getting Spotlight live on a Shopify store takes a few steps, all completed inside the Shopify theme editor.
If you’re currently using the Loyalty Sticky Bar, disable it before enabling Spotlight. The two can overlap if both are active, and this transition does not happen automatically.
For brands who want to test the experience before going live, duplicating your theme and enabling Spotlight on the duplicate first is the cleanest way to preview everything in context.

Loyalty programs that aren’t visible during the shopping journey leave logins, redemptions, and revenue on the table. Spotlight addresses that by putting your program on the PDP, in the cart, and at checkout — surfacing the right information for each shopper at the moment they’re most likely to act on it.
It’s the only loyalty widget that lets shoppers redeem directly without leaving the purchase funnel. The results from brands already using it reflect what happens when loyalty finally shows up where decisions happen.
30% more logins. 40% more redemptions. 14.5% lift in conversions. 25% of purchases happening within minutes of a widget redemption.
Same loyalty program. Very different outcomes.
It’s time to put loyalty where decisions are made, in the Spotlight.
