Empowering Commerce with the Strength of Shopify on Google Cloud
Google Cloud has been an integral partner in Shopify’s long standing mission to make commerce better for everyone. Today, we are excited to announce an expansion of our partnership: Shopify is now officially available on Google Cloud Marketplace.
The announcement builds on a long history between our companies, with a focus on commerce innovation. Shopify, with Google Cloud as its preferred cloud provider, has built industry leading commerce infrastructure, delivering unprecedented results for Shopify customers. There is no better example of our partnership than the sheer volume of traffic that Shopify infrastructure, supported by Google Cloud, handled during BFCM 2023: ~60 million requests to Shopify’s app servers per minute, generating $9.3 billion in sales in four days, with 99.9% uptime.
By joining Google Cloud Marketplace, our partnership expands to support the commercial needs of enterprise customers, allowing them to easily buy, build, and integrate with the right technology to power unique commerce experiences. Those businesses can now unlock key benefits including streamlined purchasing, simplified billing, and the ability to leverage Shopify spend towards existing Google Cloud purchase commitments. In fact, Google reports that enterprise customers are using Google Cloud Marketplace at outstanding rates. Third party transactions in 2022 were up 500% and spending more than than $1 million increased sixfold.
