It’s time to take your content curation to the next level. And, guess what? You don’t have to do a thing. Word is out: our UGC offering now supports Instagram Reels! 

What are Instagram Reels?

Instagram Reels made their debut in 2020 as Meta’s response to the ever growing popularity of TikTok. At that time, many brands began using Reels as a way to cross-promote the short-form video content that they were already sharing on TikTok in an effort to further boost engagement and build brand awareness across social channels. 

Recent statistics show that Instagram Reels receive 22% more engagement than other video content formats on Instagram, while 61% of Gen Z TikTok users spend more time on Reels.

How do Instagram Reels work with Nosto?

For those using Nosto’s UGC offering,, Instagram Reels are now automatically aggregated and tagged with the sub-type ‘Reel’ when a user creates any of the following Instagram term types:

  • Business Posts
  • Mentions
  • # Search

Just like all other content, Reels appear in the Content Moderation view on our platform, and can be identified by the Reels icon in the left-hand corner of the video thumbnail within the inline tile.

Alternatively, you can filter your Curate View to show only Reels. 

Note that both Rights via Response and Rights via Registration are supported for Instagram Reels and all Rights Owned or Rights Approved content will be automatically saved in the Visual UGC Asset Manager.

Where can I use Instagram Reels?

As with all other types of content, Instagram Reels are available for use across widgets and event screens, including Shoppable Instagram

For Reels that are Rights Owned or Rights Approved, the possibilities are endless as you can then use that content across all digital touchpoints at any stage of the customer journey!

Why should I use Instagram Reels versus other Instagram content options?

ENGAGEMENT. 

As we mentioned, Reels receive 22% more engagement than other video content formats.  According to Instagram, 92% of people act at the moment of seeing branded content on the app, so use that to your advantage by bringing that content to the customer as they shop.
